Teams & Activities

The Freedom High School NJROTC program offers a variety of competitive and leadership-building teams that allow cadets to develop discipline, teamwork, confidence, and school spirit. Participation in these activities helps cadets build valuable skills in leadership, communication, and time management while representing our unit at local, regional, and national events. Each team provides unique opportunities for personal growth and camaraderie within the NJROTC community.

Drill Team

The Drill Team showcases precision, coordination, and teamwork through military-style marching and ceremonial movements. Cadets perform both armed and unarmed drill routines, competing in local and regional competitions. The team builds confidence, discipline, and attention to detail.

Color Guard

The Color Guard is the ceremonial unit responsible for presenting the National Colors at school functions, community events, and parades. Members of this elite team represent the highest standards of professionalism, bearing the flag with honor and respect for our nation.

Marksmanship Team

The Marksmanship Team teaches firearm safety, focus, and precision shooting using air rifles in a controlled and supervised environment. Cadets compete in postal and regional matches, developing concentration, patience, and self-control while upholding strict safety standards.

Academic Team

The Academic Team focuses on general knowledge, current events, and NJROTC curriculum topics. Cadets compete in online and in-person academic challenges, testing their teamwork, critical thinking, and leadership skills.

Physical Fitness (PT) Team

The PT Team emphasizes physical endurance, strength, and teamwork. Cadets train together to compete in athletic challenges such as push-ups, curl-ups, running events, and obstacle courses. The team promotes a healthy lifestyle and camaraderie through physical achievement.

Orienteering Team

The Orienteering Team combines navigation, problem-solving, and outdoor adventure. Cadets learn to use maps and compasses to locate checkpoints in natural environments. This team encourages independence, critical thinking, and teamwork under real-world conditions.

Community Service & Volunteer Activities

Community involvement is a cornerstone of NJROTC. Cadets participate in volunteer projects, parades, charity events, and school service activities, developing a sense of civic responsibility and pride in giving back to others.
